Webinar guest speaker Julie Augustine, DVM has Classic Three-Day experience both as leading the veterinarian team and as a competitor herself! Dr. Augustine’s presentation will focus on the veterinary aspects of the traditional three-day event, including the purpose and management of the 10-minute box, veterinary inspections, and the importance of recognizing and managing equine health throughout all three phases. Drawing on her experiences as both the event veterinarian and a competitor, she will offer practical insights into how to navigate endurance day and have a happy, healthy horse throughout the competition.

This webinar is brought to you by the Waredaca Eventing Education Foundation as part of its “Road to the Classic” seminar series. Visit https://waredaca.com/waredaca-eventing-education-fund-weef/ for more information about the series.

Fees for the Road to the Classic seminar series are partially provided by the Maryland Horse Industry Board grant program.

More about Julie Augustine, DVM

Augustine is a veterinarian and eventer from Olney, Maryland, whose career has combined a passion for animal health with firsthand experience in the sport of eventing.

For many years, Dr. Augustine served as the official veterinarian for the Waredaca Classic Three-Day Event, working closely with riders, officials, and organizers to help ensure the health and welfare of horses competing in one of the area’s premier long-format competitions. After years of supporting the event as a veterinarian, she returned as a competitor, completing the Waredaca Training Three-Day Event four times aboard her horse, Texas Riddle. Her experience on both sides of the veterinary inspection provides a unique perspective on the demands of the classic three-day format.
