HI and THANKS to all of you who supported our first ‘Covid Managed’ Horse Trials in Maryland at Waredaca! My EMS team said almost everyone personally thanked them for their friendliness and efforts to keep everyone at the farm and this heavily impacted County safer and as risk free as possible. All of you were willing and cooperative to do your part with physical distancing and facial covering and it made a difference!!
Besides the new Covid check in, we also tested our new logistical set up for our Dressage and Jumping Phases. Feedback about the Jumping was very positive. The dressage ring layout still needs improvement. Our local dressage association recognized show uses this layout satisfactorily and we were curious as to how well we thought it was. Stay tuned before August as we are exploring making the width of the ring greater so to place the rings in a better position. We will let you know!
The open, galloping Cross Country courses designed by Jeff Kibbie were exactly what everyone needed to get their year restarted! The lush footing and aerating early that morning (dressage warm up, P and M tracks and dam crossings around both ponds) were noted and appreciated by many.
In closing, we at Waredaca work hard to provide you with a quality competition experience. Getting approval from our County took some heroic leaps and bounds but we did it and are so glad you had the chance to compete again!! Now let us know how we can make eventing at Waredaca better?! Having fewer entries than we were planning for, while disappointing, still provided our team a good experience with the new USEF Action Plan Guidelines. Email [email protected] with suggestions please—your opinions are wanted!!
One more request please….many of you personally thanked me and asked for e addresses to the county and state personnel so to share their appreciation. These are included and we hope each of you will take a few minutes to let these people know how much eventers do care about their sport!!
Good luck as you continue competing and we hope to see everyone back in August!
Gretchen, Robert, Steph, Rob and the entire staff…
